Two Pearls, One Afternoon

There are moments in the studio when time softens.
When an accident becomes a little poem, and two porcelain souls begin to speak to each other in silence.
This was one of those afternoons.

“Nova in disguise?”
Today, while trimming her wig cap, I accidentally sculpted a bonnet that felt straight out of a Dutch painting. The Milkmaid, perhaps?

But in the background, the true Dutch pearl sat watching—The Pearl with a Pearl Earring herself—holding Nova’s first wig atop her delicate head. My gentle secretary.

I wonder what she’s thinking.
Perhaps she’s amused…
Perhaps she remembers when it was her turn under the light.

Two pearls, two stories, one quiet afternoon.
